Out of the mouths of babes!

(5/4/2010) Yesterday I had a blast singing in an opera outreach program for kids at a center in S. St. Pete. Gosh, we had such a good time. My colleague Jean Collins, soprano, was amazing, singing some great musical theater pieces as well as "Quando m'en vo" from La Bohème. I had a blast making kids laugh with my high staccato passages in the Doll Song. Such fun to sing the Queen again as well as a piece called "The sun whose rays are all ablaze" from Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Mikado."
At the end of the performance, our hosts passed a microphone to several kids in the audience to get some feedback about the performance. They said, "It was beautiful!" "I didn't used to like opera, but now I do." (YES!) "They were really loud!" (Hahaha!) "They sing really good and are talented." And my personal favorite: "It was hot!!"
Out of the mouths of babes! That was hilarious! So much fun.
